Easy Creamed Spinach Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons Butter, divided
- 1 Small Onion, finely diced
- 2 Garlic Cloves, minced
- 1½ teaspoon Salt plus extra to garnish if needed
- ¼ teaspoon Nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
- 2 tablespoons Flour
- ¼ cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 2 cups Whole Milk
- 450 - 500 g (15 – 16 ounces) Frozen Garden Spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
Method

Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a nonstick saucepan over medium heat. Add the onions as soon as the butter has melted. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently

Combine by adding the spinach, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg, stir well. Cook the spinach mixture for 2 – 2½ minutes, stirring frequently

Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and heat until melted

Slowly add the flour to the saucepan and stir constantly until combined. Cook for another 2 minutes, stirring frequently

Add the milk little by little while stirring vigorously with a wooden spoon to integrate

Reduce the sauce to a simmer cover and cook for 5 minutes until thcikened. Stir occasionally. Reduce the heat to a low temperature and add the parmesan cheese while stirring occasionally, until the parmesan is dessolved. Adjust by adding salt if needed

Remove from the stove and leave the creamed spinach uncovered, it will thicken as it cools

Serve hot and enjoy.
