What is collected
When you use the contact form
The form collects your name, your email address and your message. These are used only to reply to you. They are not sold, rented, or used for marketing. Messages are kept for twelve months and then deleted.
Automatically, when you visit
The web server records standard technical information for every request: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. This is used to keep the site working and secure. It is held by the hosting provider, Afrihost.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them for measurement and for advertising, described below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the recipes will still work.
Advertising
This site carries advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Measurement
Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics are used to understand which recipes people read and how they arrive. This is aggregate and statistical; it is not used to identify individual visitors. See Google's Privacy Policy, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Spam protection on the contact form
The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which collects hardware and software information and sends it to Google to decide whether you are a person or a bot. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Content from other sites
Recipes sometimes link to or embed content from other websites, such as videos. Those sites collect information about you in the same way as if you had visited them directly. Their policies apply, not this one.
Your rights
Under POPIA, and under the GDPR if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may ask to see the personal information held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or object to how it is used. If you are not satisfied with the response, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa, or to your local supervisory authority if you are in the EEA or the UK.
Children
This site is written for adults who cook. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
