Chocolate Swiss Roll
The Swiss roll, as the name indicates, is if European origin: Switzerland or Austria. It is a sponge cake batter, flattened out on a baking tray, baked, and filled with whipped cream or caramel before rolled up and sliced. The basic vanilla Swiss roll is also filled but with whipped cream or Jam. The chocolate Swiss roll will not contain jam inside, it is the vanilla Swiss roll which can contain jam. This is a delicious recipe to make for a ladies high tea or any ladies event. My neighbour is a baker, and I can tell she makes the most delicious chocolate Swiss roll with cream and caramel. And it is to die for. Unfortunately I cannot tell what her secret is, but I believe mine is tasty too! Most recipes will say that you need a swiss roll tin, but a baking tray works just as well. I believe you do not need the fanciest things to bake or cook the best, as long as your heart is in it and you use something very similar. You do not always need to go and buy something, unless it will definitely be an investment for you and you will be using it quite a lot.
